Progresive Conservative Backs UKIP

Chad Noble was going to stand as an independent progressive conservative candidate in Bromley but has now withdrawn his candidacy and is backing Nigel Farage of UKIP.

HERE HE TELLS US WHY

BetterOffOut - Cross-party Eurosceptic campaign

BetterOffOut is a cross-party eurosceptic campaign started by a small group of brave Conservative MP's and has a growing list of high-profile and influential Tory supporters like Roger Helmer, Dan Hannan, Philip Davies and Philip Hollobone.

I am a committed supporter of the BetterOffOut cross-party initiative and only announced my intention to stand when the Bromley & Chislehurst Conservative association ignored the eurosceptic values that Eric Forth held and selected Bob Neill, who is not a supporter of BetterOffOut.

It is vital that eurosceptics from those like me, who as an internationalist, supports a UK referendum on the EU to those who pledge withdrawal to work together and not against one another. I would like to see the day when no BetterOffOut supporter stands against another.

Although I knew that Nigel Farage as a member of UKIP supports immediate EU withdrawal, I have only just found out (thanks to Matt Davies) that he is,

as we can clearly see, a supporter of the BetterOffOut campaign.

In the absence of my preferred choice, a Tory supporter of the campaign standing, Nigel is clearly the strongest candidate in this election who is also a BetterOffOut supporter, so I will withdraw my candidacy to further the cross-party cooperation of BetterOffOut.

In this spirit of cross-party cooperation, I urge UKIP not to field candidates in future elections against Tories who are open supporters of BetterOffOut. We must let the strongest BOO candidate with the best chance of winning, stand unopposed.

I hope my withdrawal today can go some tiny way to contributing to this growth in cross-party eurosceptic cooperation.

Good luck Nigel!

Chad Noble
